Looking for great ideas for a bathroom makeover on a budget? I will show you a step by step tutorial of how I remodeled my bathroom.

Recently, I was given a wonderful opportunity to do a four project Pilot for Hometalk TV, called 48 Hour Flip. What fun! When I got the news, I cried all day long. Happy tears. I have always dreamed of doing a home and garden decor show, just like those on HGTV-Home Town, Fixer Upper and Fixer to Fabulous. I had to come up with four projects to do. I chose the kitchen, the bathroom, the entry way and the living room. Click on the links above to see the episodes.

This is the picture of our bathroom from the MLS listing. The bathroom is a great size. The flooring and fixtures are great-BUT, that wallpaper was definitely not my style and I wanted to update the vanity. I didn’t want to spend loads of time or money on this project-I wanted to transform it quick and easy.

Removing wallpaper is definitely not my idea of fun.

The first thing that I had to do was to remove all of the outlets and the medicine cabinet-then, remove the wallpaper. I rinsed a washcloth in hot water, not wringing it all the way out-then I rubbed it onto the wallpaper and let the hot water sit on wallpaper for a bit. This is the quickest and least expensive way to remove wallpaper that I have used. Once the wallpaper was softened, the wallpaper came off pretty easily. You can also put hot water in a spray bottle and spray the water onto the wallpaper. Then I scraped it with a putty knife.

I hung a bright and fun black and white patterned wallpaper on the walls. What a transformation. It really brightened up the room. You can get the wallpaper here.

Then, I painted the vanity Tricorn Black from Sherwin Williams. I love it. I ended up doing two coats of paint. I spray painted the cabinet pulls with Krylon Spay paint. I poked the screw end of the knobs through a cardboard box, this holds the knobs beautifully to spray paint the knobs. It’s a quick and affordable way to update knobs on a budget.

I added new vanity lighting from Lights.com. I love it. If you need lighting or accessories for your home, check out Lights.com. They have a great selection.

I wanted a place to hang wet towels. I went through all of my wood scraps that I had in the barn and came up with this design. You can see how I made this here.

I added a fresh new shower curtain, towels and rugs. I used these shower curtain hooks and this shower curtain rod.

I also added this towel rack. I love it. It feels like a hotel spa. I spray painted it to match the cabinet knobs.

Beautiful Bathroom Makeover on a Budget

I am absolutely thrilled with how this bathroom turned out. In just 48 hours, this bathroom is new and bright. And the best part is that I didn’t spend much money on it, I lust changed out the cosmetic details. Beings we live in a very small town, we don’t have access to a lot of store, I purchased everything from Amazon, it just couldn’t be easier than that.
