Great for summer or any time of the year.
Don’t have fresh berries, use frozen berries or canned pie filling instead.
Why is a dump cake called a dump cake?

A dump cake is an easy dessert similar to a cobbler but with a cake-like topping.
It is named dump cake because it is prepared by “dumping” ingredients-usually fruit or pie filling, topped with a boxed cake mix, into a cake pan without mixing.
Dump cakes are often confused with cobblers since it’s a baked fruit dessert topped with a crust.
To make a dump cake, one or more fruits (fresh, frozen, or canned) are placed in the bottom of a greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
Dry yellow cake mix is sprinkled over the fruit layer, and melted butter is drizzled on top.

It doesn’t seem like it would be sweet enough with fresh berries, and might be a little tart. Most dump cakes use (sweetened) pie filling. Otherwise, it looks amazing and I’m definitely going to make it…I just think I’ll sweeten the berries a little first.

Sounds like a plan. I try to use fresh produce any time that I can-and reduce my sugar intake. Happy baking.
