Great Ideas for How to Easily Organize and Store Christmas Decorations

Hey Friends!

Welcome! I am so glad that you are here. I always enjoy our time together. I know that you still have your favorite Christmas carols playing and that you are still anticipating making wonderful memories with your friends and family this week and you still haven’t even opened your Christmas gifts yet. But, while you are enjoying a steaming cup of hot cocoa on a chilly winters night and you are curled up on the sofa with a fuzzy blanket watching a classic Christmas movie-you just may be thinking about Great Ideas for How to Easily Organize and Store Christmas Decorations. I love having everything well organized and labeled so that I can find it easily next year. Come on, I’ll show you.

Boy, do I have some great Christmas decoration storage ideas for you.

How to Organize and put away Christmas Decorations

I love the twinkle lights and the sparkle of the mercury glass ornaments and the prism ornaments. I love the crystal garland and the satin ribbons and the smell of the Christmas tree. I love it all, it makes my heart so happy. But, what makes me just as giddy is great organization. I want to be able to find things when I want them. I hate searching for things, don’t you?

Storing decorations in an airtight storage container keeps your holiday decorations protected, organized and easy to find for next year,

Tip: Clear storage buckets make it easy to see what’s in the bucket without having to open the bucket and rummage through.

I like using clear storage buckets, especially if they match and stack easily-it’s so easy to see inside without having to open them all up. They storage buckets come in so many sizes and there is always a perfect size for what you need to store.

When I dismantle the Christmas tree, I go in reverse order as when I decorated the tree. I always put my tiny prism ornaments on the tree last, so they are the first to come back off. I bought a miniature storage box. I like to keep my ornaments separated by like items. I have about forty five to fifty of the prism ornaments, they fit beautifully in this small box.

TIP: label your storage boxes, so that you can easily find what you need. I use chalkboard labels. I like the shape of these labels. I use white paint markers to write on the labels.

Next, I remove the French blue satin ribbons. I roll the ribbon around my fingers, creating a circle. This is a great way to store the ribbons and they don’t get wrinkled.

I store the ribbons in a medium size storage box, just a bit larger that the box that I store my prism ornaments in.

I wrap my mercury glass ornaments in tissue paper or bubble wrap and put them in a 18 x 6 x 29 inch storage box. I also use this size of storage bucket for my Christmas greenery. And, of course, I label each and every bucket.

This is such a weird picture of me, but it’s the only pic that I had of this great storage bucket.

This is one of the best storage ideas ever. These red Christmas light cord wraps are awesome and so affordable, but the best part is is that they hang inside a file folder bucket. Isn’t that genius?

This wreathe storage box is such a great way to store your Christmas wreaths. This case is hard sided so it’s protects your wreath well-and it has a handle to make it easy to carry. Again, genius.

This bucket is absolutely perfect for storing your rolls of gift wrapping-it protects the wrapping paper from being smashed or damage.

I like to use storage bins and labels for our Christmas decor items too. You have such beautiful ornaments and I am loving that crystal garland.

I am finding that my clear bins are the best. I do have a lot of my Christmas decoration in red and green containers with labels. However, the clear bins you can spot stuff so quickly. So if anyone is trying to decide...go for the clear ones!
