Step One: Add adhesive hooks to the door frame. I put mine on several days before I started the garland, to make sure that the hooks were good and strong before I added anything to them. I used these hooks.

Step Two: Next, I used my wire nippers to cut the chicken wire to the length that I needed. I cut my wire 80″ long by 24″ wide for the two sides. Your measurement across the top of your front door will vary from mine.

PRO TIP: Be sure to wear work gloves when cutting chicken wire. It can really cut up your hands.

Step Three: Curl the chicken wire in, tucking the ends to the back.

Step Four: Hang the chicken wire on the hooks.

Step Eight: Now, I get to add all of the fun stuff, the flowers and the leaves. I used two of these floral bouquets. I used one of these sunflower bouquets. I used 4 of these mixed bouquets, they come in a pack of two.

I cut up all of the floral picks and put them into three piles.

One pile for the top of the door. This pile didn’t need as much, because it was a shorter length.

One pile for each side of the door. I tried to keep these piles as similar as possible so that my garland would look balanced.

  1. Renae, what a lovely job you have done decorating your front door for fall! I love your entryway! We are both so fortunate to have protected entries to decorate for the seasons! I like your method of using the chicken wire as a base! Thank you so much for the shout out! I have something different and special coming for my fall and Halloween entry this year! It will be going up next weekend! Stay tuned!

  2. First of all your front door is stunning! That’s just what my home needs. I love the way you created the base for your garland with chicken wire. Brilliant! This idea will soon be showing up at my home. Have a wonderful weekend.

  3. M.S.

The garland is lovely but I think your front door with upper and side light panels is a stunner. I can’t stop looking at the door and the knocker. Just perfection.

  4. Your garland is so pretty and your entry is ready for fall! Happy hopping!

  5. Love the garland Renae! So smart to start with a base of wire and those hooks are my favorite. They hold so much more than regular 3-M hooks.

As always, everything you do in your home is gorgeous!

Beautiful interiors don’t have to come with an outrageous price tag. My style is what I like to call Vintage French Farmhouse, I love mixing decorating styles, especially opposites like the glitz of a chandelier dripping in crystals with a chair upholstered in worn aged leather. Refined, yet not too formal-but, livable, elegant traditional design, adding warmth and vintage elements.
