Our French Country Kitchen

Hey Friends!

I'm so glad you are here. I'm so excited to share our kitchen with you today. It has taken quite a bit of time to get it to where it is today. We just love it now.

This is what our kitchen looks like today. It's been 15 long years since we bought the house and started the remodel and hours of blood, sweat and tears, but I couldn't be more pleased with it.

And, this is the kitchen before, in all of it's 1980's glory!

The kitchen before had a drop ceiling with florescent lights, lavender vinyl flooring, dark cabinets and outdated appliances.

We raised the ceiling height, opened up the wall to the right and moved the appliances to a better location. We also put in a larger island for added seating.

We put in new windows over the sink. We have travertine counters and a crackle finish subway tile on the backsplash.

The island is 6 feet by five feet. We put a wood countertop on the island-I love the contrast with the white cabinets.

We put in lovely brick flooring in a herringbone pattern, which really makes it feels like a French Country Home. This seating area is one of my favorite parts of the kitchen. It's where my husband and I like to sit with a cup of tea and visit.

I thoroughly enjoy adding all of the fun little touches.

What better way to store your cooking utensils in a French Country Kitchen, than in a silver wine urn.

It's the little things that make my heart so happy. Every time that I walk into the kitchen and see these cute little boxwoods wreaths, it makes me smile.

I found this vintage light fixture on Facebook Marketplace. The lady that I bought it from said that it was really old and that she got it in France. I paid only $75 for it. It is the final French Country touch.

I hope that you enjoyed seeing my kitchen. Please "like" me on Facebook at and follow me on Instagram @peacockridge.

Hugs and blessings to you,

To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy–to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forever more!  Amen.   Jude 24-25
