Summer Nights: Outdoor Entertaining on the Patio

Hey Friends! I am so glad that you are here. Don’t you just love Summer outdoor entertaining? Me, too. As we spend more time outside this summer, here are my tips and decorating ideas for outdoor entertaining. Woo hoo! Let’s go.

Our Dining Pavillion.

Our dining pavillion is one of my favorite parts of our farm. We love to entertain and this area is so perfect for outdoor summer dining. An outdoor dining area would not be complete without the perfect farmhouse table. Our dining table is sixteen feet long. My husband and I both have large families, so we have put this table to the test many times. We had it built from a tree that had to be removed (I will be writing a post on it soon.) Our dining area is covered to keep out sun and rain. I added outdoor drapes for added elegance and softness, they can also be pulled closed, if needed. Comfortable chairs are a must as well, I love these French Country crossback chairs. And, then there is the lighting, my favorite part. Our dining pavillion has both twinkle lights and chandeliers. We put outdoor heaters in the corners of the pavillion when the nights turn cold, get vertical outdoor heaters here.

Oh, how I love my twinkle lights.

Lighting is so important, especially for entertaining on those wonderful summer nights. Twinkle lights not only add sparkle and ambiance, but they also give off enough light to light pathways. Get 25′ twinkle lights here, get a 49′ twinkle lights here, get 100′ twinkle lights here.

A fireplace is wonderful for those chilly nights.

A fireplace is a great idea for those chilly nights. We love to sit outside and chat the night away any chance that we can get. We love having the fireplace on our patio, it is a great focal point to this seating area, it keeps us warm and the mantle is fun to decorate for the seasons. We also added outdoor heaters on the trellises around the fireplace. In the foothills of the Pacific Northwest, nights get cold even in the summertime. These large solar lanterns are also a great idea for lighting the fireplace seating area and add so much character. Get smaller solar lanterns here.

This is our cookhouse. In the Northwest an inside cooking are is a must.

Great seating is essential for entertaining on summer nights.

Everyone loves a comfy chair that you can snuggle in. Comfortable seating is essential for outdoor summer entertaining. I love these outdoor wicker chairs, we have had them for years and they stand up well outside year round. Mine are discountinued but here are some great options: wicker chair with cushion, ottoman, loveseat with cushions, sofa, and dining set.

Who doesn’t love a porch swing?

We love the porch swing. There is just something about swinging in a porch swing with someone you love. The twinkle lights make it so much more special. Get a porch swing here. And, you just can’t forget about the music. We added outdoor speakers underneath our eaves on the patio. It’s wonderful to have the music on when we are spendning time on the patio on those warm summer nights. Get outdoor speakers here.
