DIY- How to Repurpose Faux Pumpkins

Do you have faux pumpkins that just don’t look good anymore, but you just can’t throw them away?  Today, I am sharing with you how to repurpose faux pumpkins.

I found some plaid inspiration at the craft store and thought they would be perfect for my old weathered exterior pumpkins.

I started by taping off the stem, so that it wouldn’t get paint on it. Then I used a two inch foam brush to paint the entire pumpkin hot pink. It took two coats of pink paint to cover the pumpkin fully. I let it dry completely before I moved on to the next step.

I used a fabric measuring tape to mark out my lines, making a mark every two inches as a guide to keep the lines evenly spaced apart. 

Using a two inch foam brush, I painted orange stripes around the pumpkin. When the stripes were dry, I painted orange stripes along the grooves of the pumpkin using two different sizes of brushes, creating a grid.

I used a white paint pen to paint a thin white line on one side of some of the orange stripes, both vertically and horizontally. Then, I used a thin paint brush to add a thin yellow line on the opposite side of the orange stripes.

Add a bow and enjoy! It’s a great way to repurpose faux pumpkins. You can paint any pattern that you can come up with.
